How to choose a marine lithium battery

  • Voltage: match your motor: 12V, 24V or 36V. You can also wire 12V batteries in series.
  • Capacity: 50Ah suits kayaks and short trips. 100Ah is the common choice for a full day on a 30–55 lb motor.
  • Size: check the group size (24, 27, 31 or mini) against your battery tray or box.
  • Charger: lithium needs a LiFePO4 charging profile. See chargers & solar.
